THERE was plenty of action for the NSW Yamaha Junior Development Team (NSW YJDT) riders, Luke Styke (Falls Creek) and Corey James, on Sunday at Lake Macquarie during the third and final round of the Motocross Development Series.
Styke clinched a third place finish on the podium in the under 19s class after finishing his two motos in second and third respectively, while James suffered a big crash during the start of the second moto for the 12 to under 14 Years 85cc class that sidelined him for the remainder of the day.
James, who was competing in both the 12 to under 14 years 85cc and the 13 to 14 under 14 years 125cc classes, finished the opening motos in both classes in a strong fourth place, but his crash out of the gate during the second moto in the 13 to under 14 years class put paid to him finishing that race, and he was consequently unable to contest the second moto for the 13 to under 14 years 125cc.
After being taken to hospital for observation the doctors declared James fit to go home and he had only sustained bruising and he was thankfully cleared of any serious injuries.
Styke’s podium finish, which saw him battle it out with Tye Simmonds and Lawson Bopping throughout the day as the three riders were a cut above the rest of the field, saw him seal a top three finish overall for the under 19s class in the Motocross Development Series.
NSW YJDT member Josh Readman competed down at the Yerriyong MVRG on Sunday and came away with a podium finish in the 14 to 15 Years 125cc class.
Unfortunately Jordan Bissaker was unable to compete at the Motocross Development Series round due to illness.
The opening round of the NSW Motocross Champion-ship that is to be held this weekend (June 28-29) at the Happy Valley Springs MVRG, near Lithgow, and all four NSW YJDT members are primed for action.
