FOR all those who enjoyed watching waterpolo at the Beijing Olympics here’s your chance to get into the water and try this great game.
Shoalhaven Waterpolo will start its 2008/09 season with registrations on Wednesday, October 8 at 5.30pm at the Bomaderry Pool.
The season will then starts the following week on Wednesday, October 15 at the Nowra Pool, the home of waterpolo within the Shoalhaven.
The Shoalhaven Waterpolo Club welcomes all ages.
For children under 12 the club holds a separate Flippa-ball season, with games starting at 5pm on Wednesday evenings.
Flippaball is a water based sport that has been developed specifically for children 12 years and under.
The basic rules are similar to the Olympic game of waterpolo with variations to allow children to stand on the bottom and catch the ball with two hands.
The Shoalhaven Waterpolo Club also holds games for junior boys and girls, women’s and opens.
All games take place on Wednesday evenings at Nowra Pool from 5.30pm.
This year the club is hoping to continue to grow.
In past seasons the club has taken part in tournaments around country NSW.
In 2007 the Shoalhaven Water Polo Club held the NSW Country Championships at both Nowra and Bomaderry Pools.
More than 30 teams from all over country NSW took part in this annual tournament. This year it is hoped that the club will be able to send both junior and senior teams to tournaments through regional NSW.
