THE South Coast Security Shoalhaven Tiger women remained undefeated with a
63-point demolition of the Central Coast Power at the Tiges Den yesterday.
The 110-47 victory was again
set up through a dominating
first quarter where the Tigers led by 28 - 35-7.
The Power came back at the Tigers in the second term, but the home side still outscored the visitors by 10, 27-17 to lead by 62-23 at the main break.
The Tigers continued to
dominate, outscoring the Power 23-12 in the third term before finishing strongly with a 25-13 final quarter.
“Our first quarter was great again,” said coach Scott Balsar.
“The girls had two great starts over the weekend and that early break really set up both victories.
“And it was good to come away with two good wins.
“It really put us in good form leading up to the May 31 double header.
“We now have another week off, which is a good chance for everyone to well and truly get over any niggling injuries ahead of the final series.”
Kelly Hannett was sensational in the first quarter, posting 10 points and even though she only played the first half scored 15 for the game and had seven steals.
The Tigers had five girls in double figures yesterday - along with Hannett,
Razz Muir top scored with 18, Simone Gibbs had 17, Maddison Hanlon 15 and Kate Denyer 13.
“It was great to be able to get everyone on the court again and young Maddison Hanlon was superb, with 15 points, shooting seven from 11 and six rebounds.
“It was also great to see 15-year-old Kate Bellamy make her State League debut and she turned in two solid performances over the weekend.
While Balsar was happy with his side’s effort that old chestnut free throws again raised its head.
“We shot well over the weekend, 48 per cent Saturday night and 47 per cent yesterday, which are both good figures,” he said.
“But free throws are again a problem on Saturday we shot 11 from 24 and yesterday 16 from 35.
“That’s not good enough and something we will have to go back and work on again.”
