Three hurt in separate accidents

8/09/2008 10:33:00 AM
THREE people were injured in two separate accidents on Friday night.

The first occurred about 7pm, when a 59-year-old man ran off the road while driving on Osborne Street, Nowra, and drove into a ditch.

Police and ambulance officers attended the scene, and found the man suffering injuries that required treatment in Shoalhaven Hospital.

About the same time an 85-year-old man lost control of his vehicle while driving in Currumbene Street, Huskisson, near the Huskisson Wharf.

The vehicle collided with a power pole and overturned, becoming wedged against a rock.

The man’s 81-year-old wife suffered a fractured hip in the incident, and was trapped in the car for nearly two hours before being released by Ambulance Rescue personnel from the Bomaderry Ambulance Station.

The man and woman were both taken to Shoalhaven Hospital for treatment.

Police inquiries into both incidents are continuing.
