$100,000 reward in Rachelle case

6/08/2008 9:20:00 AM
THE NSW government yesterday offered a $100,000 reward to solve the horrific murder in 2001 of car sales woman Rachelle Childs.

Ms Childs’ body was found in Gerroa, partially burned, in a shallow ditch not far from Crooked River Road.

An inquest into her death has concluded that she was murdered.

Her death sparked a large police hunt and led to Australia’s first mass DNA screening, with 150 people submitting to a test. No match was ever found.

Ms Childs, who worked for Camden Motors, was last seen alive driving towards Bargo on the evening of June 7.

“Anyone with information should contact NSW Police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 – the smallest piece of information could crack this case and bring closure to the family,” said acting Police Minister Kristina Keneally.

“The person responsible for taking away Rachelle’s life needs to be brought to justice.”
